Top Community Colleges in New York for Computer Science

I'm planning on starting at a community college for computer science in New York. Which ones are considered the best for getting a solid education and possibly transferring later? Looking for programs with good transfer agreements too.

There are several community colleges in New York known for their strong computer science programs, and many of them have beneficial transfer agreements as well.

1. Hudson Valley Community College: This college offers an Associate in Science degree (A.S.) in Computer Science. They have partnerships and transfer agreements with a variety of four-year colleges such as RPI (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) and University at Albany.

2. Nassau Community College: Their program aligns with SUNY four-year degree programs which makes transferring much smoother. Their Associate Degree in Science (A.S) in Computer Science is a reputable option.

3. Erie Community College: Their Computer Science (A.S) is designed for students interested in transferring into baccalaureate degree granting institutions in computer science or information systems.

4. Borough of Manhattan Community College: Their Computer Science curriculum prepares students for employment in the computer science industry or for continued study towards a bachelor's degree in computer science.

5. Queensborough Community College: Their Computer Science and Information Security program is a popular choice for students planning to transfer institutions, as is their A.S. Computer Science degree.

Remember, your ability to transfer and the quality of your education will also depend on the work you put in. Take full advantage of resources available on campus including academic advising, tutoring, writing, and studying workshops. Aim for a strong GPA and get involved in relevant extracurriculars, such as coding clubs or competitions.

All the best with your studies! A community college start can be an excellent pathway towards a great future in Computer Science.
