Suggestions for colleges best for computer science?

I'm a junior interested in computer science, and I'm looking for recommendations on schools known for strong CS programs. What are some colleges that stand out in this area?

Sure, let's talk through some of the top-notch computer science departments across a range of colleges.

On the very top end, you have Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford University, and University of California, Berkeley. These schools are famous for their computer science programs, and have a solid reputation of fostering innovation and tech entrepreneurship. But they are very competitive, so you'll need a really strong application to get in.

Carnegie Mellon University, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and University of Washington are also well-respected for computer science. They offer robust CS programs and solid connections with tech employers.

For smaller institutions, Harvey Mudd College and California Institute of Technology (Caltech) also offer stellar computer science programs. They also tend to have smaller class sizes, which can mean more personal attention from professors.

On the East Coast, University of Maryland, College Park has a very good CS program as well.

If you're looking for schools that have strong programs and might be slightly less competitive for admissions, consider Purdue University, University of Texas at Austin, or University of Florida. All of these schools have solid CS programs and would definitely be worth checking out.

Of course, your choice will depend on more than just rankings. You should also consider factors like location, size, tuition, and most importantly, the overall fit of the school to your goals and values. So, try to explore each college beyond just their rankings to identify the best fit for you!
