Any recommendations for the best computer science college in North Carolina?

I'm a junior starting to research colleges, and I'm particularly interested in computer science. I'd love to hear about the top computer science programs in North Carolina. What do current students think of their college experiences?

One college in North Carolina that is known for its strong computer science program is the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC Chapel Hill). The Department of Computer Science at UNC is one of the oldest and most respected in the United States, having celebrated its 50th anniversary back in 2014.

With a faculty full of accomplished researchers, UNC Chapel Hill offers a comprehensive program that covers various computing sub-disciplines, from graphics and vision to machine learning and natural language processing. Their program offers flexibility in choosing electives and exploring different areas of interest.

Another institution worth mentioning is North Carolina State University (NC State). While UNC excels in research, NC State has a reputable program with a strong industry focus, making it ideal for those interested in more applied or industry-related work after graduation. The students appreciate the active and vibrant tech community in and around NC State, which is part of the Research Triangle Park area, home to many tech companies and startups.

Finally, Duke University also has a robust program. Duke's Computer Science majors get frequent exposure to research opportunities and work closely with professors who are leaders in their fields. Students also have access to extensive resources and the chance to be part of a diverse and intellectually stimulating environment.

So, based on what you're looking for from a Computer Science program - be it research, industry connections, or a particular sub-discipline of computing - you might find UNC Chapel Hill, NC State, or Duke to be a fit for your needs. Make sure to visit these institutions (if possible) or do more in-depth research to find out which one aligns best with your goals and interests. Good luck with your college search!
