Best colleges in New York for science programs?

I'm really into science and focusing my college search on New York state. I'm curious which colleges out there have standout science programs. Any advice on where to start or schools to check out?

New York state offers many excellent colleges with strong science programs. Here's a short list to get you started:

1. Columbia University: Columbia has several world-class science departments, including Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. Their undergraduate science programs are highly rated, and they offer countless research opportunities for undergrads.

2. Cornell University: Cornell's College of Arts and Sciences has very strong programs in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, and Physics. They also offer Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. You might be interested in their research-focused science programs with close faculty mentorship.

3. University of Rochester: The Natural Science and Engineering fields at the University of Rochester also receive high marks, particularly in the departments of Biology, Physics, and Earth and Environmental Sciences.

4. New York University (NYU): In the heart of Manhattan, NYU offers solid science programs too, including Biology and Physics.

5. SUNY Stony Brook: Stony Brook University, part of the SUNY network, is known for its excellent science programs, particularly in Physics and Geosciences. Plus, the tuition can be more affordable for New York residents.

Before you finalize your list, I recommend looking at the specific programs/courses that interest you at each school, as well as available research opportunities. Each school might have unique strengths within their science departments. And remember, even smaller schools not on this list may have excellent science programs with more opportunities for hands-on experience and mentorship from professors.

Good luck with your college search!
