Equine Studies Programs in USA? Any Recommendations?

I've been riding horses for years and now I'm thinking about pursuing equine studies in college. Does anyone know of good programs or colleges in the USA that offer this major?

Absolutely! There are several universities in the United States that offer robust Equine Studies programs. Here are a few notable ones:

1. University of Kentucky: Located in Lexington, known as the "Horse Capital of the World", UK offers a Bachelor's degree in Equine Science and Management. The program incorporates classes on business and economics with horse-related courses to provide a comprehensive education.

2. Colorado State University: Offering both an Equine Science major and a bachelor's degree in Equine Science with a concentration in Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies (EAAT). CSU is known for its excellent veterinary program as well, providing excellent opportunities for those interested in equine health.

3. University of Findlay: Recognized for its strong pre-vet program and 'English Equestrian Studies' major, which includes disciplines like dressage, jump seat, and hunt seat, it's a good match for anyone who's serious about a career in the equestrian world.

4. Middle Tennessee State University: Providing a Bachelor's degree in Horse Science with concentrations in Horse Science, Horse Science (Pre-Vet), and Equine Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation. MTSU's program is designed to prepare students for a wide range of careers within the horse industry.

Remember to consider how the university's location might factor into their program. A university that's near horse breeding or racing hubs might provide more opportunities for applicable internships and jobs after college. Lastly, consider the school's facilities, the styles of riding they cater to, and the faculty's expertise in your areas of interest. Good luck in your college search!
