Can trade jobs really make 100k a year?

I'm looking into trade jobs that might pay around 100k or more eventually. I'm curious about which specific trade jobs offer salaries in that range and what kind of experience or training is required to reach that level. Any insights?

Of course, it's definitely possible for people in certain trade jobs to eventually earn $100k per year or more, especially with high levels of expertise or specialization. However, salaries tend to vary depending on variables like individual effort, experience, location, and the specific trade.

One such high-paying trade job is a plumber. A master plumber, especially one who runs their own business, can certainly earn a six-figure income. It typically involves completing an apprenticeship, which may take 4 to 5 years, followed by becoming a journeyman plumber and then a master plumber.

Electricians are another trade that can reach similar figures. Master electricians can especially reap high salaries. Like plumbers, the path includes an apprenticeship followed by experience as a journeyman electrician.

Elevator mechanics also often break the $100k mark as their work is specialized. They usually require a high school diploma, followed by an apprenticeship.

Lastly, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning) technicians, particularly those running their own businesses or specializing in commercial equipment, can earn well. The usual route is a mix of formal education (1-2 years) combined with an apprenticeship or hands-on training.

However, bear in mind that these figures often apply to folks who have accumulated significant experience and have potentially moved onto owning their own businesses in the field, alongside those living in areas with high living costs. Rapid advancement in these fields usually involves commitment to education, mentorship, licensure, and quality work combined with business and people skills.
