How do I know if a college has accepted me?

I'm really anxious waiting for college decisions. How do I know if a college has accepted me? Do they email, send letters, or notify through their portal first? Any tips on how to handle the wait?

After you submit your college application, a university typically sets up an online portal for you to track the progress of your application. This portal will generally be the first place where your admission decision is posted. Universities can also send acceptance letters via mail and some schools may send a preliminary email notifying you of your acceptance. However, formal acceptance via post may take a bit longer.

The time frame for receiving an admissions decision will vary depending on whether you applied Early Decision, Early Action, or Regular Decision. Early Decision and Early Action decisions are usually posted in mid-December, while Regular Decision responses typically arrive between late March and early April.

In terms of handling the wait, try to keep yourself occupied so the waiting time doesn't feel as long. Engage in your favorite hobbies, focus on your current classes, and spend time with friends and family. Remember you've done the best you can on your application, and it's now out of your hands. It can be a nerve-wracking process, but try to remain patient and stay positive. Whatever the outcome, know that a rejection doesn't reflect your worth or potential, but rather the highly competitive nature of college admissions. Best of luck!
