What are the best skilled trade jobs right now?

With so many different skilled trades out there, I'm curious which ones are currently considered the best in terms of job stability and pay. Any trades that are particularly in demand right now?

Currently, several skilled trade jobs are quite in demand, and this can be due to factors such as technological advancements, an aging workforce, and emphasis on infrastructure projects. Here are a few skilled trades that check the boxes for job stability, good income, and demand:

1. Electricians: The need for electricians is steadily rising, especially those specializing in renewable energy technologies. They usually earn a good income and have plenty of opportunities due to people's dependence on electricity and ongoing construction projects for homes, offices, and renewable energy sources.

2. HVAC Technicians: Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) technicians are almost always in demand. Many HVAC systems need to be installed, or older units need to be replaced, fixed, or properly maintained. With many HVAC technicians set to retire, there's an increasing demand for new technicians.

3. Welders: Skilled welders are continually in high demand, as industries such as construction, automotive, and manufacturing all require their expertise. Welders with specialized skills (like underwater welding) can command substantial salaries.

4. Plumbers: Plumbing skills are always needed since plumbing systems in residential, commercial, and industrial sectors often need maintenance and repairs. The need for plumbers tends to be quite stable, as this is a service that doesn't fade with technological advancements.

5. Solar Photovoltaic Installers: As jurisdictions push for more renewable energy, this industry is experiencing rapid growth. As a result, jobs for people able to install and maintain solar power systems are quite hot right now and are likely to remain so in the future.

6. Wind Turbine Technicians: Like solar PV installers, wind turbine technicians are benefiting from an increased push towards renewable energy sources. These technicians install, maintain, and repair wind turbines – an industry projected to grow substantially in the coming years.

Lastly, it's important to remember that the demand for these positions can slightly vary depending on the region. So, it may be useful to look into each trade in more depth and see job projections in your specific area. But overall, these are some trades that offer high pay, strong job stability, and a good outlook in terms of demand.
