Are there good trade jobs for women?

As a female student, I'm looking at trade careers and wondering if certain jobs are particularly recommended or supportive for women. Any advice or experiences would be really helpful as I explore my options!

Absolutely! Gender should never be a limiting factor when considering what trade job you want to pursue, especially because there's a great need for gender diversity in these fields. Here are some trades that are increasingly seeing a rise in women:

1. Electrician: It's one of the better-paying trade jobs and it requires analytical and problem-solving skills along with physical work.

2. Welder: As with many trades, women often excel in welding because of their attention to detail. You might be interested in welding if you enjoy working with your hands and creating usable products.

3. HVAC Technician: HVAC is becoming a more popular choice for women. It's a trades job with a good ratio of physical labor to problem-solving, and these systems are crucial in just about every building, making for solid job security.

4. Plumber: This can be considered a 'recession-proof' job. With the training, you could start your own business and have the flexibility that comes along with that.

5. Solar Photovoltaic Installer: As renewable energy becomes more popular, so does the demand for professionals in the field. This job is ideal for someone interested in sustainable solutions and green technology.

Ultimately, you should consider your interests, abilities, and career goals. Find a trade career not just fine for women, but specifically great for you! Remember that though some fields may traditionally be considered male-dominated, times are changing, and women are making great strides across all industries, including trade jobs.
