What's involved in being a sociologist?

I'm really fascinated by societies and how they function. Could someone explain what a sociologist does in their job and if it's a career worth pursuing? What can I do in high school to prepare for this?

Sociologists study social behavior, which encompasses societal structures, social relationships, and social change. They often work in research institutions, colleges and universities, consulting firms, and government organizations. Their work primarily involves conducting surveys or interviews, analyzing data, collaborating with colleagues, and presenting their findings in writing or through presentations.
