Trade Job Apprenticeships Worth Considering?

I'm a high school junior and I'm thinking about skipping college in favor of an apprenticeship in the trades. What are some good trade job apprenticeships to consider that offer solid career prospects?

Several trade apprenticeships offer not just solid career prospects but also good remuneration. One of the top options to consider is an electrician apprenticeship. The demand for electricians remains high, and it comes with a pretty competitive earning potential once you become licensed. The training generally includes both coursework and paid on-the-job experience.

Another high-demand trade job is a plumber. Similar to electricians, plumbers are always in demand. They assist not just in residential projects but also in big infrastructure projects. Doing an apprenticeship in plumbing provides you with the necessary skillset and leads to a stable career.

HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) technician is another great direction to go in. With new buildings and houses being constructed and older systems needing maintenance, the need for these service professionals continues to grow. An apprenticeship allows you to learn how to install and repair these systems under the supervision of experienced professionals.

A career as an Elevator mechanic can also be a lucrative option. They install, repair, and maintain elevators, escalators, and similar systems. Apprenticeships in this trade often have higher entry requirements but offer above-average pay.

Finally, a carpentry apprenticeship can also lead to a reliable career, with opportunities to specialize in areas like cabinet making or framework.

Before you finalize a pathway, it would be beneficial to do some more research or even try to get some preliminary experience if possible. Each of these careers has different working conditions and physical demands so ensure any path you choose aligns well with your interests and physical capabilities.
