What are Vassar's Early Decision 2 acceptance rates like?

I'm really interested in applying ED2 to Vassar and want to understand my chances. How do acceptance rates for ED2 compare to ED1 and regular decisions? Does anyone have tips for making my application stand out?

Vassar College, like many schools, doesn't publicly disclose separate acceptance rates for Early Decision 1 (ED1) and Early Decision 2 (ED2). However, typically, acceptance rates in the early rounds (both ED1 and ED2) are higher than the regular decision acceptance rate.

To illustrate this point, consider that for Fall 2024, Vassar College's overall acceptance rate was around 18%. But during the Early Decision rounds, the acceptance rate can often be twice as high or more compared to regular decision. Keep in mind that the students who apply early are often strong applicants who demonstrate a clear interest in Vassar by applying early, and this may contribute to the higher acceptance rate as well.

In terms of making your application stand out, focus on ensuring that your application effectively communicates your unique strengths, interests, and experiences. Be sure to put extra effort into your supplemental essays. Vassar values intellectual curiosity, so make sure to highlight your love for learning!

Additionally, articulate very clearly why you would choose Vassar over all others. Talk about specific opportunities at Vassar that align with your academic interests, clubs that match your extracurricular passions, and any unique aspects of the Vassar culture that resonate with you.

Remember also to highlight any experience you have showing leadership, ambition, or innovation in your extracurricular activities. Admissions decisions are about more than just numbers--Vassar, like many schools, values applicants who show the potential to contribute positively to their campus and community.

Finally, despite the likely higher acceptance rates for Early Decision 2, remember that ED is a binding agreement. Therefore, you should only pursue this option is Vassar is, without a doubt, your first-choice college. Ensure you've also evaluated your ability to afford the tuition at Vassar since financial aid packages can sometimes be less predictable with ED. The Net Price Calculator can help you with this.
