Early Decision 2 for Wake Forest: Is it a smart move?

I'm thinking about applying Early Decision 2 to Wake Forest. I'm really interested in the school but missed the first ED deadline. Are my chances significantly better with ED 2 compared to Regular Decision?

If Wake Forest is your top choice and you're comfortable committing to attending if accepted, then applying Early Decision 2 could be beneficial. Generally, applying Early Decision, whether it's ED 1 or ED 2, can boost your chances of acceptance at many schools, including Wake Forest.

While the acceptance rates can fluctuate from year to year, the general trend shows that ED applicants tend to have a slightly higher acceptance rate compared to Regular Decision applicants. It's important to note, however, that there's typically a more competitive applicant pool in ED, which could account for the higher acceptance rates.

Yet, perhaps one of the biggest benefits to applying ED 2 is that it demonstrates your commitment and interest in the school. This "demonstrated interest" can potentially give you an edge in the admissions process.

Just as a reminder though - the main caveat of applying ED 2 is that if you're accepted, it's a binding agreement. You will be expected to withdraw any applications to other schools and commit to attend Wake Forest. Therefore, it's paramount you take the time to think this through and absolutely sure that Wake Forest is the school you want to commit to, as well as that it's financially feasible for you and your family.

If you're uncertain about applying ED 2 because you're not ready to commit or are still looking at other schools, then applying Regular Decision is a solid option. This allows you more time to decide, to apply to multiple schools, and to compare financial aid packages should you be accepted to multiple institutions.

Whatever you choose, remember to put your best foot forward on the application and best of luck in your college application journey!
