Boston University Early Decision 2 for 2024

I'm thinking about applying Early Decision 2 to Boston University for the 2024 cycle. Can someone tell me important things to consider when applying ED2, especially any advice on showing strong interest in BU?

Absolutely! Applying Early Decision 2 (ED2) can be an excellent way to show your commitment to a university. Since ED2 is a binding commitment just like ED1, it sends a strong message of interest to Boston University (BU).

Firstly, ensure that BU is your top choice and you can afford it. Run the BU specific net price calculator to ensure that the financial commitment fits within your family's means. Remember, if admitted via ED2, barring an inadequate financial aid package, you are morally (and somewhat legally) bound to attend BU.

Secondly, showcase your knowledge of BU in your "Why This College" essay. This essay is crucial in demonstrating how you will take advantage of specific opportunities on campus. Research programs, courses, clubs, and other unique activities that align with your academic and career interests. Don't forget to connect these resources back to your own experiences and aspirations to show why you're not only a good fit for BU, but also why BU is a good fit for you.

Also, try to find out more about BU's culture, both academically and socially. If you can align your worldview or personal qualities with that of the institution, it could make your case stronger.

If possible, attend virtual events or informational sessions hosted by BU. Not only will these events give you more insights about the institution, but they also provide you useful material to include in your essays.

Finally, remember ED2 may also be slightly more competitive since it's the next option for those who might not have received favorable decisions in their ED1. So, make sure you put your best foot forward and don't rush your application just to meet the deadline.

Good luck with your application!
