What does an architectural engineer do?

I’m interested in architecture and engineering, and I heard about architectural engineering. What exactly do architectural engineers do, and how do they differ from architects? Is this a field worth pursuing?

Architectural engineering, also known as building engineering, focuses on the application of engineering principles and technology to building design and construction. Unlike architects, who primarily focus on the design, aesthetics, and layout of a building, architectural engineers work on the structural integrity, the functionality, and the systems within the building, such as HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), plumbing, fire protection, and electrical systems, just to name a few.

In other words, an architect might determine the overall design and manipulate the spatial composition of the building, while an architectural engineer ensures that the design can be practically implemented and can function as intended.

As for whether architectural engineering is worth pursuing, that's very much dependent on your interests and professional aspirations. This field can certainly provide a rewarding and challenging career for individuals who enjoy problem-solving, have a keen interest in construction processes, and want to create functional and efficient building systems.

However, determine whether you prefer more of the design aspect or the engineering segment of building creation.
