Princeton early action deferrals?

I'm curious about how often Princeton defers students from early action to regular decision. If anyone has insight or personal experiences, that would be super helpful!

Princeton University, like many colleges, does defer some students from the early action pool to the regular decision pool every year. However, it's hard to give a specific percentage for Princeton's defer rate, as this number can fluctuate from year to year and the university does not publicly disclose it.

When Princeton defers an application, it means that the admissions committee believes that the student has potential but wants to see their application in the context of the regular decision pool. Sometimes, this could also be because they want to see first-semester senior grades or any updates that may strengthen the application.

In many cases, deferred applicants still have a chance to be admitted in the regular decision cycle, but it's always a good idea to continue applying to other schools and not consider the deferral as a guaranteed acceptance later on. Additionally, should students have significant updates to their application, such as new awards, honors, or improved GPA, they should send these updates to the university to strengthen their regular decision application.

Remember, a deferral is not a denial. It may feel disappointing, but it is essentially the school saying they need more time to make a decision. Keep your spirits up and best of luck in the regular decision round!
