What happens if you're rejected from Northeastern early action?

I'm considering Northeastern for early action, but I'm worried about the possibility of rejection. Has anyone gone through this, and what are the next steps if you don't get in early?

When applying to Northeastern through the Early Action, if you get rejected, it signifies an end to your application process for that admission cycle. Northeastern, like many other universities, does not reconsider your application in Regular Decision after a rejection in Early Action.

However, this doesn't mean that all paths to Northeastern are forever closed. You can always reapply after improving your academic and extracurricular profiles. Additionally, you also have the option to transfer from another institution should you still want to attend Northeastern in future years.

The most crucial thing, especially for high school seniors, is to have a list of safety and target schools in addition to their dream schools. This way, if you don't get into your first choice during Early Action, you might still have other favorable options to choose from. If you want to learn more about building your college list, check out our blog post on the subject: https://blog.collegevine.com/the-college-list-decoded-safeties-targets-and-reaches/.

Try to remember, as disappointing as a potential rejection might be, you can use it as a motivating force. It's an opportunity to reassess academic achievements, strengthen skills, and deepen involvements in your passions, not only for Northeastern but for all your future endeavors. It might be helpful to reflect on why Northeastern is an appealing option for you and look for those features in other institutions as well, so that you're prepared for every possible outcome. Good luck with your applications!
