University of Chicago waitlist

So I just realized that I might end up on the waitlist for the University of Chicago (fingers crossed for acceptance though). If that happens, how should I handle it? Any suggestions for increasing my chances of getting off the waitlist? Thanks in advance!

If you find yourself on the waitlist for the University of Chicago, don't lose hope! There are several steps you can take to improve your chances of getting off the waitlist and into the incoming class:

1. Write a letter of continued interest (LOCI) - This should be a brief, concise letter expressing your gratitude for being considered and your ongoing enthusiasm for attending the University of Chicago. Make sure to mention any updates on your academic achievements, extracurricular activities, or awards since submitting your application.

2. Update your application with any relevant information - If you've received new awards or recognitions or participated in new activities since applying, make sure to inform the admissions committee. This could be included in your LOCI, or you could send separate updates if they are significant enough.

3. Visit the campus, if possible - Demonstrating that you've visited the campus lets the admissions committee know you're serious about attending their institution. This also gives you an opportunity to learn more about the school, which you can reference in your LOCI.

4. Stay in touch with the admissions office - If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out to the University of Chicago admissions office. Send them an email or give them a call to establish a relationship and show your continued interest in the school.

5. Maintain strong academic performance - Continue to work hard in your classes and keep your grades up. Admissions committees may review your final transcripts before making final decisions on waitlisted applicants. A strong finish to your academic year can only help your chances.

6. Have a backup plan - While you work on increasing your chances at the University of Chicago, make sure to have a solid backup plan in place. Accept an offer from another school you're excited to attend if you ultimately don't get off the waitlist.

Remember that being on the waitlist does not guarantee admission, but taking these steps can help demonstrate your enthusiasm and commitment to attending the University of Chicago. Good luck!
