Berkeley Regular Decision Application Process

I'm planning to apply to Berkeley through regular decision, and I'm curious about when the application is due and any tips for making my application stand out. Would love to hear any advice!

The application filing period for UC Berkeley, as with all University of California schools, is October 1 to December 2. Therefore, you should plan to submit your application during this time frame.

As far as making your application stand out, keep in mind that UC Berkeley, like other UC schools, uses the Personal Insight Questions to get a better sense of who you are as a student and an individual.

A good approach is to select prompts that allow you to highlight different aspects of your personality, experiences, or aspirations. Since UC Berkeley is test-blind, these essays play an even more critical role in your application, and you should try to use them to illustrate your academic interests, commitment to serving your community, or resilience in the face of challenges. They love to see students who have displayed initiative or innovated in some way.

Another important factor that UC Berkeley considers is your academic record, specifically, your GPA and course rigor relative to what's available at your school. Therefore, perform well academically and take advantage of any advanced or honors coursework your school offers.

Last but not least, your extracurricular activities can also make your application stand out. Quality definitely takes precedence over quantity here.
