Is deferring enrollment possible at multiple universities?

I'm in a bit of a dilemma because I've been accepted to a few schools and want to defer. Is it possible to defer at more than one university, or do I have to choose one before deferring? How do schools handle this?

Deferring enrollment is certainly possible, but policies can vary between universities. Typically, you must accept an offer of admission at one university before you can request a deferral. This means you generally cannot defer enrollment at multiple universities.

When you defer your enrollment, you're essentially asking the university to hold your spot for the following academic year. Therefore, you usually have to commit to attending that school when you request a deferral. From the college's perspective, granting a deferral means turning away another student for that spot, so they want to ensure you're committed to attending.

Furthermore, some schools might require you to explain your reasons for deferring and may only grant deferrals for certain activities, like military service, religious activities, health issues, or other significant commitments.

So, in your case, it's likely that you might have to choose one school to accept and defer enrollment at. It's best to check with each of the universities you've been accepted to and inquire about their deferral policies. Remember to make this decision carefully, as you are essentially committing to attend the school you defer enrollment at. Consider factors like financial aid, academic programs, location, and the campus culture when making your decision. Good luck navigating this process!
