I'm applying to Georgetown regular decision for the Class of 2025. Any tips on what to focus on as I polish my application? I really want to make a solid impression with my essays and extracurriculars.

Firstly, fully understanding Georgetown's values will help you craft an application that is most compelling to their admissions committee. Georgetown's ethos revolves around the idea of being a "man or woman for others". They value service to others, global awareness, and an engaged life of the mind, which are key traits to emphasize not only in your essays, but implicitly throughout your application.

In terms of your essays, Georgetown is unique in that it doesn’t use the Common Application. Instead, it has its own application system with its own specific essays. You'll want to understanding the prompt well and dig deep to provide thoughtful, introspective answers. Specific anecdotes and stories will help bring your application to life.

For extracurriculars, remember that depth is more important than breadth. Selective schools like Georgetown see applicants with a wide variety of interests and activities all the time, but what they really value is long-term commitment and leadership. Profound involvement in a few activities typically leaves a stronger impression.

Finally, it is essential to convey your genuine passion for your intended field of study. Georgetown wants to see how you've been engaging with your interests, how you plan to extend those activities in college, and most importantly, why you love what you do. If you have ongoing independent projects, or if you participated in research, competitions, internships, or other related activities for your prospective major, be sure to highlight those in your application.

Remember to start your essays well in advance to allow plenty of time to revise and perfect them. Good luck with your application!
