Any Tips for Georgia Tech's Regular Decision Application?

I'm aiming to apply to Georgia Institute of Technology under regular decision and I'm curious if anyone has advice on making a strong application. Are there specific things Georgia Tech looks for in its applicants?

Certainly! For Georgia Tech, they're looking to see that you can thrive in their rigorous engineering-focused academic environment.

To begin with, Georgia Tech is known for its STEM programs, especially engineering, so demonstrating a genuine interest and achievement in STEM can make you a more competitive candidate. This does not mean you need to be solely focused on STEM, but having related coursework, extracurricular activities, or personal projects will likely benefit your application.

When it comes to essays, be thoughtful and deliberate. Georgia Tech's supplemental prompts want to get a sense of who you are beyond just your academic and extracurricular achievements. Try to reflect on your personal experiences as they relate to these prompts. However, ensure that your responses are sincere and personal distinctively reflecting your identity.

For example, Georgia Tech often has a short essay asking why Georgia Tech? This is more than just a question about why you want to go to Tech. It is a question about how you see Georgia Tech helping you achieve your personal, academic, and professional goals. Make sure to research about the school, understand specific courses, research opportunities, clubs and organizations that align with your interests. If you've attended any summer programs or visited the campus, this is a great place to mention such experiences.

Another aspect of your application you should pay attention to is your letters of recommendation. Georgia Tech typically requires one from a math or science teacher and values insights about your problem-solving abilities, intellectual curiosity, and resilience. Make sure those you ask for letters from can speak in detail about your personality and your work ethics.

Remember, the admissions team is looking for students who will contribute to the campus community in unique and meaningful ways. Highlight your accomplishments but remain cognizant of expressing your values, passion and how you see yourself contributing to the GT community.

Lastly, ensure to have a clear and concise resume detailing your academic achievements, extracurricular activities, work experience, volunteer service, and any other initiatives that highlight your skills, leadership and service to the community.

As a final reminder, make sure you meet all of Georgia Tech's necessary deadlines and requirements. Submitting on time and without errors reflects well on your organizational skills and your serious interest in the school.

Best of luck with your application!
