Georgetown Regular Decision in 2025

I'm planning to apply to Georgetown for the 2025 intake through regular decision. Does anyone know how competitive it is and what kind of applicant profile they're looking for? I'm super curious about what I should focus on in my application.

Georgetown University is indeed quite competitive with an acceptance rate that hovers around 13%, though it can vary slightly by year. Nonetheless, this should not discourage you from applying if you feel this school is a good fit for you.

In terms of what they look for in applicants, Georgetown, like any top-tier university, takes into consideration a combination of strong academics, impressive extracurriculars, and compelling personal essays.

Academics are certainly a crucial factor. You should have a challenging high school curriculum (for example, Honors, AP, or IB classes), a very high GPA, and strong SAT or ACT scores if available. However, since admission isn't solely based on academics, it's just as important to prove your capabilities outside the classroom.

Your extracurricular activities should ideally demonstrate deep involvement and leadership. They fall under a system referred to as the Four Tiers of Extracurriculars. Tier 1 and 2 activities, such as winning national awards or significant leadership roles, tend to be more impressive though Tier 3 and 4 activities, such as club membership or general volunteering, can add value as well, especially if you can articulate your involvement effectively.

Moreover, Georgetown places a huge emphasis on personal essays in their application. They don't simply want to know you as a student, they want to understand who you are as a person. Make sure to share genuine and compelling stories about your experiences, values, and how you hope to contribute to the Georgetown community.

Finally, Georgetown evaluates candidates with an eye for service, a global outlook, and a commitment to Jesuit values of social justice and intellectual inquiry. Bear this in mind as you craft your application.

I hope this provides you with a clearer perspective on Georgetown's selection process. Best of luck with your application!
