What is Wellesley Regular Decision Early Evaluation?

I've heard about the early evaluation option for Wellesley's regular decision applicants. Can anyone explain how that works and if it impacts chances of admission? Trying to figure out if I should go this route.

Wellesley College offers an unusual option known as "Early Evaluation" for Regular Decision applicants. This is not an Early Action or Early Decision option where you get an acceptance, denial, or deferral.

Instead, Early Evaluation gives you an indication of your chances of being admitted if you were to apply Regular Decision. The college would review your application and then let you know if you are "likely" or "unlikely" to be admitted.

To be considered for Early Evaluation, you simply need to submit your application by the Early Evaluation deadline, which is typically a few weeks earlier than the Regular Decision deadline. You'll then receive your non-binding evaluation in early February.

Keep in mind that this is just an estimate of your chances and not a solid indication of acceptance or rejection. If you're "likely" to get in, this could boost your confidence and help you plan the rest of your college application process. If you're deemed "unlikely", this might be an early indication that you should focus on other schools on your list.

Importantly, going for Early Evaluation doesn't necessarily improve your chances of getting accepted. Wellesley claims that it does not give any advantage or disadvantage to applicants who choose this option. It's merely a tool to give you some early feedback. In terms of whether to go for it or not, consider if this early feedback would be beneficial for your process. If you are comfortable with the potentially early negative feedback, it might be worthwhile to go for the Early Evaluation route.
