What are the regular decision requirements for Georgia Tech?

I'm looking into applying to Georgia Tech for regular decision and was wondering about the specific requirements. Anything special I should be aware of, like course prerequisites or extracurricular expectations? Any advice from current or past applicants would be great!

Here are the main details to consider when applying to Georgia Tech:

Application: Georgia Tech accepts both the Common Application and the Coalition Application. You'll need to fill out all required sections, including the activities list and the personal essay.

Academic Requirements: Georgia Tech expects applicants to have a strong foundation in math and science due to their emphasis on engineering and tech disciplines. You should have taken Calculus, Physics, and Chemistry at the minimum. If you have taken relevant AP courses and scored well, it could be beneficial, although AP scores themselves are not a part of the admissions process.

GPA/Test Scores: While Georgia Tech doesn’t have a stated minimum GPA, the average GPA of admitted students is generally above 4.0 on the weighted scale. For the 2024-2025 application cycle, Georgia Tech is test-optional. This means that while you can still submit SAT or ACT scores, your application won't be disadvantaged if you choose not to send them.

Recommendation Letters: You'll need to submit one counselor letter and one teacher recommendation. Choose a teacher in a core subject who knows you well and can provide detailed insights into your academic strengths and engagement in class.

Extracurriculars: While Georgia Tech doesn't have specific extracurricular requirements, they're looking for students who have demonstrated involvement and leadership in their interests outside of the classroom. This could be in STEM-focused activities given the nature of the school, but it doesn't have to be. Remember, quality is more important than quantity, and having a "spike" or deep involvement in one area can be advantageous.

Essays: Georgia Tech requires a few additional short-answer essays. Make sure to answer these thoughtfully, showcasing your interest in the school and the specific ways in which you would contribute to their community.

Lastly, the deadline for the Regular Decision is January 1. Do ensure all required materials are submitted by this date. Good luck with your application!
