When are regular decision admission results usually released?

I'm applying to a few schools through regular decision and I'm curious about when I'd typically hear back from universities. Is there a standard timeline for receiving admission decisions, or does it vary a lot between colleges?

The timeline for receiving regular decision admission results can indeed vary from school to school. Generally, however, most universities release their regular decision results between the middle of March to the beginning of April.

For example, Ivy league schools traditionally announce their decisions at the end of March. Other top-tier schools, like Stanford and MIT, also tend to send out decisions around the same time. State schools might vary more widely, with some beginning to issue decisions in February and continuing on a rolling basis through March and early April.

It's important to note, though, that you want to check the specific timelines for each institution you're applying to. This information can usually be found on the schools' admissions websites.

Additionally, remember that there are also rolling admissions schools that operate on a different timeline. These institutions review applications as they come in and typically send out decisions within 4-6 weeks of receiving an application. If any of your schools have rolling admissions policies, you might hear back sooner than March or April.

Best of luck with your college applications!
