Are regular decision applicants eligible for Duke scholarships?

I'm applying to Duke under regular decision, and I'm wondering if this affects my eligibility for scholarships. Should I have applied earlier, or do they have the same opportunities for regular decision applicants?

Yes, regular decision applicants are eligible to be considered for Duke University's merit-based scholarships. Duke offers a number of these scholarships – some of the more well-known ones include the Robertson Scholars Leadership Program, the David M. Rubenstein Scholarship, and the A.B. Duke Scholarship – and regular decision applicants are definitely in the running for these scholarships.

However, it's important to know that each scholarship might have its own separate application or essay requirement in addition to the general admissions application. Also, some scholarships have their own deadlines that may differ from the regular decision deadline. Always make sure to double-check the scholarship details on Duke's official website to ensure you meet all requirements and deadlines.

Another important thing to note is that Duke considers every applicant for need-based financial aid, regardless of whether you apply Early Decision or Regular Decision. Duke practices need-blind admissions for U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and undocumented/DACA students, meaning the ability to pay isn’t considered when making admissions decisions. Duke also meets 100% of the demonstrated need for all admitted domestic students.

So, while applying earlier won't necessarily increase your chances of receiving a scholarship, knowing and meeting the specific requirements for each scholarship will definitely help you in the process. Best of luck with your application!
