3.5 GPA-friendly schools

Hi everyone! I have a 3.5 GPA and I am starting to create my college list. Can anyone recommend schools that are known to be friendly towards applicants with a 3.5 GPA? I'm open to any suggestions!

Hi there! I'm glad you're starting to work on your college list. With a 3.5 GPA, you still have many good options to consider. Remember, colleges don't only look at your GPA, but also your course rigor, test scores (if applicable), extracurricular activities, essays, and more. However, here are some suggestions for schools that may be more receptive to a 3.5 GPA:

1. Arizona State University (ASU) - ASU is a large public university with a wide range of programs and resources for its students. The average GPA of admitted students is around 3.54, so your GPA is in the ballpark.

2. University of Oregon - Located in Eugene, the University of Oregon is a public research university known for its strong liberal arts programs. The middle 50% of admitted students have a GPA between 3.4 and 3.9.

3. Ohio State University - Another large public university, Ohio State offers a diverse array of programs and has a strong focus on research. The middle 50% of admitted students have a GPA between 3.6 and 4.1; while your GPA falls a bit below that, strong extracurriculars and other aspects of your application could make you a competitive applicant.

4. Purdue University - This university in Indiana is known for its strong engineering and technology programs. The middle 50% of admitted students have a GPA between 3.5 and 4.0, so you're right in that range.

5. University of Iowa - The University of Iowa is a public research university known for its creative writing, healthcare, and business programs. The middle 50% of admitted students have a GPA between 3.5 and 3.9.

6. Florida State University (FSU) - FSU is a large public university with a strong focus on research. The average GPA of admitted students is around 4.0 (weighted), but many applicants with a 3.5 GPA can still be competitive with strong extracurriculars and other factors.

Remember, your choice of college should align with your interests, goals, and preferred location. This list is just a starting point, but there are many other colleges and universities out there that might be a good fit for you. Do some research on each school to see which ones suit your needs and preferences. Best of luck!
