Barnard regular decision acceptance rate insights?

I'm curious about the regular decision acceptance rate at Barnard. Does anyone know how selective it typically is and what to expect for the upcoming cycle?

Barnard College, like many highly selective schools, doesn't publish its regular decision (RD) acceptance rate separately from its overall acceptance rate. However, it's generally understood that the RD acceptance rate is often lower since Early Decision (ED) applicants typically fill a significant portion of spots in the incoming class. Additionally, ED often has higher acceptance rates because these applicants demonstrate a strong commitment to the school.

Barnard's overall acceptance rate for recent years has been around 8% which reflects both ED and RD acceptance rates. But remember, these rates can fluctuate from year to year based on the applicant pool.

As a point of understanding, being a highly selective school, Barnard values in a candidate, in addition to academic excellence, a strong passion for their interests or a 'spike', intellectual curiosity, and demonstrated interest in women’s empowerment or a commitment to women’s issues.

However, it's crucial to note that admission to these colleges involves a holistic review of your application, meaning that they don't rely solely on numerical measures like grades or test scores (when required). Your essays, letters of recommendation, and extracurricular activities can greatly influence admissions decisions.

While it's normal to consider acceptance rates in your college search, avoid making them the exclusive or primary factor of your decision to apply. Barnard, being an excellent institution, could be a great fit for you academically and personally. So if it aligns with your interests and ambitions, consider applying regardless of the admissions statistics. Hope that helps!
