What happens if my test scores are late for regular decision?

I'm kind of worried because my test scores might not arrive in time for regular decision deadlines. Does this mean I'll be moved to the regular decision pool automatically? How do colleges handle this situation?

When it comes to college applications, every university has its own specific policy regarding late test scores. However, most colleges are generally understanding and will accept test scores a few days or even a week after the deadline. This is often because there's a grace period for components of your application that are out of your control, such as letters of recommendation and test scores.

That said, best practice is to take the test early enough so that you can send your scores to your colleges well in advance of any deadlines. It's important to note that some colleges take a harder stance on deadlines and may not accept late submissions at all. Therefore, to avoid any delays or complications, it's best to review the specific policies of each institution you're applying to.

Keep in mind though, if your scores are significantly late, there is a risk your application could be moved to the regular decision pool or that your application could be considered incomplete. If you find yourself in this situation, I'd recommend reaching out directly to the admissions offices of the schools to which you're applying. They may be able to provide clarity or even possible solutions.
