Applying regular decision to Miami University?

I'm thinking about applying regular decision to Miami University. Is there a significant difference in acceptance rates between early and regular decision? Also, how soon after applying RD do they usually send decisions?

Miami University, like many universities, does offer both Early Decision (ED) and Regular Decision (RD). The acceptance rate is usually higher for Early Decision, but it's important to remember that this doesn't necessarily mean it's less competitive – people who apply ED are usually highly qualified applicants who have chosen Miami as their top choice.

Similarly, applying Regular Decision won't put you at a disadvantage. While you will be competing against a larger pool of applicants, Miami evaluates your particular profile, not the round you applied in, to determine how well you'd fit at their institution.

As for the decision timeline, Miami University typically releases Regular Decision notifications on a rolling basis, which means you'll likely hear back a few weeks after you submit your application. However, the specific timing can vary, so it's best to check the university's admissions website or contact their admissions office directly for the most accurate information.

Also remember to monitor your application status through the university's application portal, as that's where you'll first see the decision when it's ready. You'll likely also get an email letting you know your decision has been published, in case you aren't able to be on the portal when decisions go live. Good luck with your application!
