What's the regular decision acceptance rate for CMU?

I'm looking into applying to Carnegie Mellon University and am curious about my chances. Does anyone know the regular decision acceptance rate for CMU? Trying to understand how competitive it is so I can plan accordingly.

Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) is known for its selective admissions process, with an overall acceptance rate that often falls under 20%. However, it's important to keep in mind that acceptance rates can vary each year based on a number of factors like the size and competitiveness of the applicant pool. As for the regular decision acceptance rate for CMU, it tends to be in line with the overall acceptance rate, as most students apply Regular Decision rather than Early Decision.

Furthermore, acceptance rates can dramatically vary between CMU's different colleges/schools. For instance, the School of Computer Science, consistently ranked among the top in the world, is highly competitive, with an even lower acceptance rate.

Therefore, while knowing these acceptance rates does provide a sense of CMU's selectivity, remember that they are not predictive of an individual student's chances. Take the time to create a well-rounded application that excels in areas like grades, course rigor, standardized test scores (if you choose to submit them), essays, letters of recommendation, and extracurricular activities. A strong application will help increase your chances of admission, regardless of the university's acceptance rate.
