What exactly is Ivy Day and how does it relate to regular decision?

I've heard of Ivy Day when talking about Ivy League schools, but I'm not entirely sure what it means. Is it just when regular decision results come out, or is there more to it?

Ivy Day is a term used to describe the day in late March - typically the last Thursday - when all eight Ivy League schools release their Regular Decision admissions results. The exact date varies each year, but being towards the end of March, it signifies the close of the most intense period of the college application cycle.

The synchronized release of Ivy League decisions heightens anticipation, and since these schools are among some of the most selective in the country, it can be a particularly nerve-wracking day for applicants. However, it's important to remember that the outcome should not define you or your worth. Many students are accepted to excellent institutions that are not in the Ivy League and find they are a better fit for their goals and personalities.

While Ivy Day is limited to the Ivy League, many other highly selective colleges and universities release their decisions around the same period, too. This makes late March a pivotal time for many college applicants, regardless of whether they've applied to Ivy League schools.
