Do colleges review regular decision applications before deadlines?

I'm curious if colleges actually look at regular decision applications before their deadlines pass. Is there any benefit to submitting my application well before the due date, or do admissions officers wait until after the deadline to start their reviews?

Many students have a similar question as yours! Generally speaking, admissions officers mostly begin reviewing applications after the deadline has passed. This ensures that all applicants have equal opportunities to submit their materials within the specified time frame. Most schools won't start reviewing applications until the deadline has passed to maintain fairness and equity in the admissions process.

However, it can be to your advantage to submit your application earlier rather than later. Submitting early gives you more lead time to deal with potential issues like technical glitches, missing pieces, or unresponsive recommenders. Not having to stress over these things right before the deadline can provide you with some peace of mind, which can be invaluable during this already intensive period.

But do remember, whether you submit your application two weeks or two hours before the deadline doesn't affect your admissions decision. As long as your application is in by the deadline, you'll be evaluated in the same way as everyone else.
