How to Organize Regular Decision College Applications?

I feel like I'm drowning trying to keep track of all my regular decision deadlines! How do you guys organize the various application dates and requirements for different colleges? Any tips or tools for staying on top of this would be amazing!

Having a system in place can definitely alleviate the stress of tracking multiple college applications. Here are some strategies I would suggest:

1. Create a Spreadsheet: Use Excel, Google Sheets, or similar programs. Make columns for the college name, application deadline, individual requirements (like essays, recommendation letters, test scores), and the status of each task (Not Started, In Progress, Completed). A color-coded system helps to visualize your progress - for example, mark completed tasks in green. Remember to factor in financial aid deadlines as they often differ from regular admission deadlines.

2. Set Digital Reminders: Your phone or computer's calendar app could be your best friend. Create calendar events for your assignment deadlines with reminders set a few days before the due date.

3. Regular Reviews: Set aside time each week for a dedicated "application review". Use this time to assess your progress, update your spreadsheet, and make a plan for the coming week - which tasks you need to complete, who you need to follow up with, what needs to be submitted, etc.

4. Prioritize: Not all applications need to be finished at once. Prioritize colleges with earlier deadlines, and break big tasks (like essays) into manageable chunks.

5. Keep Organized Files: Create an individual folder for each college on your computer. Store all the relevant documents like drafts of your essays, recommendation letters, transcripts, etc., in these folders. This way you can easily access necessary files when submitting applications.

6. Use College Admissions Platforms: College admissions platforms like Common App or Coalition App allow you to track your applications' progress. They also have tools to help you manage tasks and deadlines.

Keep in mind that it's key not to wait until the last minute for submissions. Technical glitches, unexpected events, or simply needing more time to revise can all cause stress if you're working up against the deadline. Start early, work consistently, and best of luck.
