What are some good trade jobs with only 1 year of training?

I’d like to transition quickly into the workforce after high school. Could anyone suggest trade jobs that require about a year of training or less and still offer decent pay and opportunities?

Sure, there are plenty of trades that require minimal training yet still offer promising opportunities. Here are a few to consider:

1. Commercial Truck Driver: You only need to attend a few months of truck driving school to get your commercial driver's license (CDL) and start working. The median yearly salary is pretty significant and there's a high demand for truck drivers, thanks to the ever-growing e-commerce industry.

2. Phlebotomist: In this role, you would be responsible for drawing blood from patients for medical testing, donations, or research. Phlebotomy courses can be completed in less than a year, and this line of work offers a strong entry point into the healthcare industry.

3. HVAC Technician: These professionals install, repair, and maintain heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. You can complete a training program in 6-36 months, and the demand for HVAC technicians is high due to the growing number of climate control systems.

4. Wind Turbine Technician: As one of the fastest growing trades, Wind Turbine Technicians install, maintain, and necessarily also repair wind turbines. The training for this position typically takes about a year, and rapid developments in renewable energy industries make this a stable career choice.

Before jumping into any job, it's important to research and make sure it's a good fit for you. Consider factors such as the physical demands of the job, potential risks or safety concerns, and whether you’d enjoy the daily tasks. Remember that the best jobs are those that you're passionate about and genuinely interested in.
