What Are the Highest Paid Jobs in Skilled Trades?

I'm thinking about going into a trade after high school instead of college, but I'm curious about which skilled trades offer the highest salaries. Does anyone know which trades tend to pay the best?

Considering a career in skilled trades is a great choice, especially if you're interested in hands-on work and keen on entering the workforce relatively quickly after high school. Some of the highest paying trades include:

1. Elevator Installer/Repairer: This trade requires a familiarity with electronics, hydraulics, and mechanical systems. The job involves maintaining and repairing elevator parts, understanding complex diagrams and blueprints, and adhering to safety regulations.

2. Power Line Installer/Repairer: The work involves installing and maintaining the complex power grid that supplies electricity to homes and businesses. This job often requires working outdoors in various weather conditions and sometimes at great heights.

3. Boilermaker: Boilermakers assemble, install, maintain, and repair boilers as well as similar containers that hold gases and liquids. This job can be physically demanding but offers a high wage.

4. Plumber, Pipefitter, and Steamfitter: These trades involve installing and repairing pipes that carry liquids and gases in homes, businesses, and factories. After a period of study and apprenticeship, many in this field become self-employed contractors.

5. Construction Manager: While this role often does involve some level of postsecondary education, many construction managers work their way up from entry-level positions, gaining experience on the job. They oversee construction projects from start to finish, making sure the work is completed on time and within budget.

Remember, while these jobs tend to be high-paying, much of your success and income will depend on your level of expertise, the region in which you work, and the demand for that particular trade at that time. It's always a good idea to investigate the job market in your area (or the area where you'd like to live) to see what kinds of opportunities are available.
