How do I come up with good questions to ask my interviewer?

I want to ask meaningful questions that show I'm genuinely interested in the college and its programs. Any advice on forming questions that are both thoughtful and relevant?

Deciding on which questions to ask your interviewer can be an important part of showing your engagement and interest in the institution. Here are a few tips:

1. Research the College: The best questions often come from extensive research about the college and its programs. Look through the college's website, the professors in your area of interest, any unique programs or opportunities, etc.

2. Ask about experiences: You might ask about your interviewer's experiences. For example, "What, in your opinion, sets this college apart from others you've experienced?" or "What memories do you have of your time at this school that validate your decision of studying here?" These questions show a real interest in the individual viewpoint of the interviewer.

3. Ask about Student Life: Questions about student life can be very revealing about the campus culture. For example, you might ask about traditions, clubs, or social activities.

4. Curiosity about Academics: You can ask about academic programs or specific departments that might interest you. Something like, "What kind of opportunities does the biology department offer for undergraduate research?"

5. Post-graduation: This is clearly a long-term concern but it shows that you're viewing college as a connection to your future. Ask about on-campus career help, job fairs, internship opportunities, or how this college has prepared students for the transition into the workforce/graduate school.

Remember, the aim here is to get a glimpse of the college from someone who has experienced it firsthand and to show that you are earnestly interested in what the college has to offer. Good luck!
