Forgot to send thank you letter after college interview

I recently had an interview with a college, and I totally forgot to send a thank you letter afterward. It's been a few weeks now, and I'm worried if this might affect my chances. Should I still send one, or is it too late?

While it's generally a good practice to send a thank you note within a few days after a college interview, forgetting to do so shouldn't drastically affect your chances in the admissions process. The purpose of the thank you note is mainly to express appreciation for the interviewer's time and to continue building a positive relationship.

Given that it's been more than a few days, you may still want to send that thank you note, albeit with a slightly different approach. Instead of simply sending a belated thank you, consider incorporating some context into your note. For example, you could say something along the lines of, "As I've been reflecting on the process of applying to college, I appreciate even more the thoughtful conversation we had and the insight you provided about XYZ University."

This presents the delay as more of a thoughtful reflection rather than an oversight. This can also give you a chance to reinforce any key conversations from the interview or express further interest in the school. Just be sincere and gracious, choose your words thoughtfully and try not to worry too much about this. The admissions decision will primarily be based on your academic and extracurricular qualifications, rather than the timing of your thank you note. Good luck!
