What's the difference between off-campus and on-campus interviews at Hamilton College?

I'm planning to interview for Hamilton College but I'm not sure whether to choose an off-campus or on-campus interview. Are there any differences in how they conduct them or any advantages to one over the other?

Interviews with Hamilton College, whether on-campus or off-campus, carry the same weight in the admissions process. So, in terms of affecting your odds of acceptance, there is no difference between the two. The main distinctions are in location and interviewer.

On-campus interviews are typically conducted by admissions officers at Hamilton College. This can be advantageous as you’ll get direct insight into the college from someone who works there, and they can answer more specific questions you might have about the campus, the programs, or the admissions process itself. Plus, during an on-campus interview, you can also tour the campus, see the facilities, and maybe even sit in on a class or meet actual students to get a better feel of the college atmosphere.

Off-campus interviews, on the other hand, are generally conducted by alumni in your local area. These aren't held on the Hamilton campus but in a local public setting, like a coffee shop or library, or virtually. Such interviews can be more convenient if you live far away from the college, saving you the time and expense of travel. The alumni interviews can also offer a unique perspective on life post-graduation, and alumni may be able to share valuable experiences about how Hamilton prepared them for their career paths.

Remember, all interviews should be approached professionally, and you should prepare thoroughly for either format. Make sure to bring thoughtful questions, be ready to discuss your interests and high school experiences, and show genuine enthusiasm for Hamilton College.
