Tips for Bard College Admission Interview?

I'm preparing for an admission interview at Bard College and would appreciate any tips or advice. How intense is it, and what kind of questions should I expect? I'm a bit nervous, so any help would be great!

Admission interviews can seem daunting but rest assured, they are a conversational opportunity to get to know you better as an applicant and to provide you with more detailed information about the institution.

At Bard College, these interviews are generally open-ended and would revolve around your high school experiences, academic interests, extracurricular activities, and perhaps your plans for the future. Expect questions like "Why Bard College?," "What can you contribute to our college community?", "What major are you interested in pursuing and why?", and "What is a recent book you've enjoyed reading and why?"

You can find a more extensive list of common questions, as well as guidance on how to tackle them and even strong sample responses, on CollegeVine's blog: https://blog.collegevine.com/15-major-college-interview-questions-to-prepare-for

It's advisable to keep the interview conversational and make it a two-way street. Besides being prepared to talk about yourself, you should research the college, and come up with a few questions about the college and your prospective major, to show genuine interest in the institution. CollegeVine's blog also has tips on how to come up with good questions to ask your college interviewer: https://blog.collegevine.com/9-meaningful-questions-to-ask-during-your-college-interview/

But remember, interviews are not only about impressing the interviewer with your achievements but also about showing them who you are as a person. So be authentic in your answers. Speak honestly about your interest in the college or your field, and your accomplishments and failures, rather than trying to present yourself in a contrived way.

Lastly, it's quite natural to feel nervous during interviews, especially college interviews. Just take a deep breath, and answer each question calmly and sincerely. Remember, it's not a test but an opportunity to display your personality, skills and aspirations.

Good luck!
