Exploring study abroad options for a gap year

I'm really interested in spending my gap year abroad to experience a new culture and maybe learn a language. What are some reputable study abroad programs for gap year students that I should look into?

One outstanding option to consider is the CIEE Global Navigator program. This program is specifically designed for the gap year students, offering a variety of courses across many disciplines. You could choose to learn a new language or immerse yourself in a different culture for the entire time. It features locations in over 30 countries, and provides an abundance of opportunities for cultural immersion as well as volunteer experiences.

Another option worth exploring would be the Thinking Beyond Borders program, which focuses on understanding global issues, making it an excellent choice if you want to deepen your knowledge of global affairs while experiencing other cultures.

Finally, Projects Abroad is an organization with vast experience in supporting gap year students who wish to volunteer or undertake internships overseas. The program includes teaching, medical and healthcare, conservation, and more, in over 20 countries. You don't necessarily need to study a course, but if you decide to intern, you will certainly gain valuable work experience.

Remember to thoroughly research these programs and any others you're considering. Look at reviews and testimonials, ensure they provide adequate support and safety measures for international students, and understand the financial obligations. And, make sure the program aligns with your personal and academic interests! These experiences can be truly transformative and beneficial, whether by helping you learn a new language, understand a new culture, or gain experiences of a lifetime.
