How should I dress for a UK college interview?

I have a college interview in the UK coming up soon and I'm not sure about the appropriate dress code. Is it more formal or can I go business casual? I want to make a good impression, so any advice would be great!

Generally speaking, for college interviews in the UK, it's more about the interviewee's responses and ardor for the course than their attire. However, you'll want to dress smartly to communicate a positive, professional image, as well as respect for the process.

The attire for UK college interviews usually falls somewhere between business casual and business formal. Men typically wear smart trousers and a nice button-down shirt, while women might wear a skirt (not too short) or trousers and a blouse. A blazer or smart jacket is optional. Both men and women can round off the look with tidy, comfortable shoes.

Avoid wearing overly casual clothing such as jeans, t-shirts, sneakers, or shorts. The goal is to demonstrate that you are taking the interview and the opportunity seriously.

Remember, you want the focus to be on your thoughtful responses and your enthusiasm for the course and not on your ensemble. So, while it's important to dress up and look nice, you don't need to overthink it too much. Look neat, comfortable, and authentic.

Finally, don't forget the other aspects of your presentation—namely, confidence and demeanor. Practice your answers, keep your calm, and bring a positive attitude to the conversation. These qualities will speak far louder than any outfit. Best of luck!
