Boston University Interviews: Required or Optional?

Does Boston University make interviews a mandatory part of their application process, or is it something you can do optionally if you're interested? I'm trying to prioritize my time and wonder if I should prepare for one.

Boston University now offers students an opportunity to submit a 60-90-second video to complement their application through a partnership with Glimpse. Submitting the video is optional, and applicants who choose not to submit a video will not be at a disadvantage. That being said, the decision to participate in a video submission can be beneficial, as it allows you the opportunity to express your interest in the university and show a different dimension of your personality and experiences that might not come through in your application. But keep in mind, that not participating in a video submission won't negatively impact your application.

So if you feel comfortable speaking about your experiences, your goals, and why you're interested in BU in a video format, and have the time to prepare, it could be a beneficial aspect of your application. But if you are crunched for time, you can certainly decide to forgo it without any negative repercussions. Remember, prioritize what aspects of the application process will best communicate your strengths and potential contributions to the university. Good luck with your application!
