How to impress an interviewer at a university interview?

I'm feeling nervous about my upcoming university interviews. What are some key questions I should ask to impress the interviewer and demonstrate my enthusiasm for the school?

I understand how nerve-racking university interviews can be. Just remember, the interview isn’t just for the interviewer to get to know you—it’s also meant as an opportunity for you to get to know more about the school.

Here's my advice for standout questions to ask during your interview, which should express your seriousness and commitment:

1. Ask about student life: "Can you tell me about some unique traditions on campus or organizations that have a prominent role in student life?" Not only does this show your interest in the college community, but you also learn about opportunities to get engaged on campus.

2. Ask him/her to share personal experiences: "What was your favorite thing about attending or working at this school?" or "Which aspects of the university do you think stand out from other institutions?" These questions will help you gain insight from the interviewer's perspective.

3. Inquire about academics: "How does the university support academic exploration, especially for students who are undecided about their major?” This can reflect your seriousness about academic pursuits, and also get valuable information on academic resources.

Just remember, to research the school thoroughly before your interview. This way, you can tailor your questions to aspects of the campus or programs you're genuinely interested in, rather than asking general questions. Good luck!
