1. Preparation is key: Do some research on the university, its values, curriculum, and distinctive programs. This will allow you to articulate how you can contribute to the institution and benefit from it.

2. Practice: Mock interviews can be particularly helpful. They give you a feel of how the actual interview might go and can help you respond effectively to commonly asked questions.

3. Have examples ready: It's always good to have some go-to examples of your experiences and achievements that demonstrate your skills and qualities. Whether it's a team project, a hobby, or a part-time job, think about what these experiences say about you as a candidate.

4. Be yourself: Universities want students who are authentic. Show who you truly are, beyond your grades and achievements. This could include talking about your hobbies, or things you're passionate about.

5. Listen well: Make sure that you're not only preparing your responses but that you're also listening closely to the interviewer's questions. Pay attention to the specifics and address each part.

6. Ask thoughtful questions: A good way to leave a lasting impression is to ask thoughtful questions about the university or program. Remember, the interview goes both ways. It's a chance for you to find out if the university is right for you as well.

7. Body language matters: Maintain eye contact, sit up straight, and try to keep your gestures natural. This not only shows confidence but also respect for the interviewer.

8. Stay calm: It's completely normal to feel nervous before and during the interview. Remind yourself that it's perfectly okay to take a moment to think about your responses before answering.

Remember, an interview is not just about you being a good fit for the university, but also about the university being a good fit for you. Be honest with your responses and come prepared with questions to ask your interviewer as well. Good luck with your interview preparation!
