What to wear to a nursing program university interview?

I've got an interview coming up for a nursing program and I'm clueless about what to wear! Do I need to go full business attire or is smart casual okay? Any advice?

Congrats on securing an interview! It's normal to be unsure of what to wear. It's better to err on the side of dressing more formally for this type of occasion.

Typically, business professional attire is considered the norm for university interviews. For men, a suit and tie could be a great option, or at least a button-down shirt, dress pants, and a tie if a suit is not feasible. For women, a pantsuit or a dress with a blazer would be suitable. Neutral colors such as black, grey, and navy are generally preferred as they exhibit professionalism.

Remember to pay attention to your footwear as well! Closed-toe, dress shoes are best.

While the dressing style might seem a bit formal, it's important to create a positive first impression, and your attire is a part of that. However, this doesn't mean you need to feel uncomfortable or unlike yourself—the key is to balance professionalism with your own personal style.

One last tip—try to limit distracting accessories or fragrances which can be off-putting in an enclosed interview space. Good luck with your interview, and just remember, confidence is the best outfit!
