Cambridge University Geography Interview Questions?

Has anyone applied for geography at Cambridge and can share what kind of questions they were asked during their interview? Trying to get a sense of what to prepare for and any tips would be super helpful!

As someone who has experience counseling students who have applied to Cambridge University, I can provide some insight into what the interview process might look like. Geography is a fascinating subject and the interviews at Cambridge tend to focus on your enthusiasm for, and understanding of, geography as well as your ability to think critically and independently.

One common theme in aspects of the interview is real-world application. You could expect to be asked about trends, patterns, or phenomena that you have studied, and how these concepts might apply to current, real-world scenarios. For example, they might ask how climate change affects various global landscapes and populations, or the impacts of urbanization on the environment.

Furthermore, they may ask you about any geography-related extracurricular activities or reading you have done outside your typical schoolwork. They might ask you to talk about your favorite concepts in geography, or anything that you found particularly challenging.

Make sure to attend the interview prepared to discuss your personal statement, as the interviewers will likely ask you about the items you've mentioned there. You should understand all your projects and coursework very thoroughly, and be able to talk about why you find them interesting or important.

Lastly, keep in mind that there is no one 'right' answer to these interview questions. The interviewers are interested in your thought process, and how you apply geographical concepts to answer complex problems. You're not expected to know everything! Good luck with your interview preparation!
