What's the dress code for a university interview?

I'm a female high school junior and I have a university interview coming up. I'm kind of stressed about what to wear. Can anyone share tips or dos and don'ts for dressing for this type of interview?

Absolutely, I'd be happy to provide some advice about dressing for a university interview. The key thing to remember is to go for a neat and professional look while also being comfortable. You want to make a good first impression and feel confident during your interview.

Generally, business casual attire is a safe bet.

For your top, consider a blouse or a nice sweater. Avoid anything too tight, revealing, or with large logos or graphics. Solid colors or simple patterns tend to look the most professional.

For your bottom, you could choose from slacks, khakis, or a modest skirt. Jeans are generally too casual, but if they're dark wash and in good condition, they could possibly be paired with a blazer or a really nice top for a somewhat more casual setting.

As for footwear, flats or low-heeled shoes would work well. You want to be comfortable and avoid anything too flashy.

Additionally, keep in mind that accessories and grooming matter, too. Keep your makeup and jewelry minimal and professional. That doesn't mean you can't express your personal style, but a university interview may not be the best place for those oversized statement earrings or your favorite sparkly eyeshadow.

Finally, remember that the most important thing is that you feel confident and comfortable. Ultimately, your outfit should make you feel good and reflect your personality, within the bounds of professionalism.

Good luck on your upcoming university interview!
