Experiences with Waterloo University Video Interviews?

I've got a video interview scheduled for Waterloo University. This will be my first video interview ever, and I'm not sure how to approach it. Does anyone have tips on how to make a good impression in this format?

I'm glad to provide some advice. First of all, preparation is key. Make sure to test your computer's camera and microphone ahead of time and check your internet connection. You also want to be sure that your surroundings are quiet and appropriately lit.

You might find it helpful to dress as you would for a face-to-face interview, not only to present yourself professionally but also to put yourself in the interview mindset.

As part of your preparation, try to anticipate the questions you are likely to be asked. Many interviews start with an invitation to tell a bit about yourself, followed by questions about what interests you about the program or university, why you're a good fit, etc. Practice speaking your answers aloud. This can help make your responses sound more natural and help you feel more confident.

In the course of the interview, try to maintain eye contact with the camera, not the image of the other person on your screen. It's a small detail but can make a big impact.

Finally, remember that the interview is not only a chance for the university to assess you but also a chance for you to assess the university and the program. Be ready to ask your questions to show that you're seriously interested. It might be helpful to write down a few beforehand.

Remember, the interview is about getting to know you as an individual beyond your application. Be authentic and try to relax. Good luck!
